Features
Features
Aspose.PSD FOSS for .NET loads, inspects, and saves PSD and PSB documents without rendering pixel data. The feature set is organized into three areas, each covered in its own guide.
Document Loading, Inspection, and Saving
Image.Load() / PsdImage.Load() load a document from a file path or stream; PsdImage.Save() writes it back out. PsdImage exposes the parsed header (Width, Height, ColorMode, Version, Compression, and more) and the parsed image resources. See Core API for the full reference.
Layer Metadata
Each parsed Layer exposes its geometry, visibility, opacity, clipping, and blend mode, plus channel, mask, and blending-range metadata. A subset of layer properties can be changed and saved back; the layer collection itself can be filtered or reordered. See Layers for the full reference.
Error Handling
Load and save failures are reported through PsdLoadException and PsdSaveException, both extending the standard Exception class. See Core Exceptions for the full reference.
What’s Not Supported
This library does not render pixel data and does not convert PSD/PSB to other image formats (such as PNG or JPEG). It is a metadata-focused reader and writer for the PSD/PSB container format.
Tips and Best Practices
- Start with Core API for loading, inspecting, and saving a document.
- Use Layers once you need to read or edit individual layer metadata.
- Wrap
Load()/Save()calls in the exception handling described in Core Exceptions.
Common Issues
| Issue | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Expecting rendered pixel output | This library is metadata-only | Use a different library for rendering; this one only loads, inspects, and saves PSD/PSB metadata |
FAQ
Does this library render or convert PSD files?
No. It loads, inspects, and saves PSD/PSB documents only — it does not render pixel data or convert to other image formats.
Where do I start?
Core API for the PsdImage/Image entry point, then Layers for layer-level metadata, and Core Exceptions for error handling.
